Region III Hosts
US Youth Soccer has announced that Edmond, Okla., and Oklahoma Soccer Association will host the 2013 US Youth Soccer Region III (South) Championships as part of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series. The games will take place at the ESC Complex in Edmond, OK. The event is scheduled for June 20-27.
U.S. Men Host Belgium
The U.S. Men’s National Team will host Belgium for the first time when the teams meet May 29 at First Energy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET. The U.S. has played Belgium four times, including on July 13, 1930 in the Americans first-ever World Cup match, a 3-0 victory in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The other three games have been played in Belgium, where the U.S. failed to score in any of them. In the last, on Sept. 6, 2011, a disallowed goal by Maurice Edu in the 86th minute left the U.S. with a 1-0 loss in Jurgen Klinsmann’s third match as U.S. coach.
U.S. MNT vs. Germany
The German National team has announced that Germany will play a match on June 2 against the U.S. MNT in Washington, DC, at RFK Stadium as US Soccer celebrates its 100th anniversary.
Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. ET. Television coverage on ESPN2.
The German team will play another international friendly on the trip against Ecuador on May 29th at Florida Atlantic University.
The June 2 game will be a reunion of Germany national team coach Joachim Low and U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann. Low was Klinsmann’s former assistant.
2013 Presidents Cup
The Florida Youth Soccer Association has been selected to host the 2013 US Youth National Presidents Cup, July 11-14, at the Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale, FL. The Region III Presidents Cup will be held in Decatur, Alabama in early June.
USASA Cup Sites
With the USASA National Amateur Championship headed to Greensboro, N.C., May 24-26, Dates and sites for the National Women’s Soccer Championships and National Veterans Cup have been announced.
Both will be played over the same weekend, June 25-30, The Women’s Soccer Championship will be held in Overland Park, Kansas.
The National Vets Cup will return for a second year to Escondido, California.
USA vs. Mexico Venue
Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, has been selected for the September 10 CONCACAF Qualifying match against regional rival Mexico. The U.S. is 3-0-0 in qualifiers inside Crew Stadium, posting three consecutive shutouts against El Tri.
Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on ESPN. The U.S. MNT is 6-0-3 all-time in Crew Stadium, dating back to 2000.
’13 MLS All-Star Game
The game will be played July 31 at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas, and will be televised live on ESPN and Univision.
