Charlotte Offense Explodes

January 15, 2012 by Ray Alley

Charlotte Offense Explodes.

A year ago the Charlotte 49ers played for the national championship. The 49ers would like to get back to the College Cup in 2012. Behind a season-high six goals from five different players, the 18th-ranked Charlotte 49ers (10-2-3, A-10: 4-1-1) ran past the Rhode Island Rams (2-9-3, A-10: 1-3-1), 6-1, at Transamerica Field. The 49ers’ six goals were most goals scored by the 49ers since scoring six goals in a 6-0 win over George Washington, October 9, 2009.
Jennings Rex became the third Niner in the same weekend to score two goals in a game. Kyle Parker, Anthony Perez, Tyler Gibson and Giuseppe Gentile scored the 49ers other four goals.
“It is great that a goal came from anyone at any time,” said Charlotte coach Kevin Langan. “We are creating a lot of scoring chances from a variety of players. This shows that the star of our team is the team.”
